Formula SAE Combustion Team on campus leverages past competition experiences as it pushes forward with Knowledge Event.
UMD Racing is a student-led non-profit engineering team at the UM Dearborn campus that designs, builds, and races a formula-style performance vehicle. The team competes in various events organized by SAE International, as well as local autocross events. The team started 27 years ago and has grown and changed greatly throughout that span of years. Presently all the members are remotely working and collaborating over the internet while hoping for a prompt return to campus and in-person work on the car. Currently, due to the University shutdown, the subgroups have been working together modeling designs online, training, and skilling up. The team cannot wait to get back to the lab and get hands-on with the race car. In the meantime, they are staying busy with SAE’s virtual Knowledge Event for the 2021 competition season.
